Summer Travel for International Students Held in the Faculty of Agriculture

The Research Faculty of Agriculture, the School of Agriculture, and the Graduate School of Agriculture held summer travel for international students onSeptember 10. This travel has been held for about 40 years to deepen exchanges among international students and to experience various industries in Hokkaido.
This year, 27 international students from 16 countries, 4 faculty members, and 6 Japanese students in support roles participated. In the morning, they visited the Tomakomai Experimental Forest in Tomakomai City. Associate Professor UETAKE Jun and two technical staffs explained about the forest and natural environment, and visited the arboretum, the museum and memorial hall, and the forest observation tower in the research forest. After that, they moved to Shiraoi-town and visited UPOPOY(National Ainu Museum.) Surrounded by the magnificent nature of the Tomakomai Experimental Forest, international students were able to learn about Hokkaido’s unique natural environment, Ainu history and culture at UPOPOY, and also interact extensively beyond the borders of their countries, regions, and laboratories, making it a fulfilling day for them.
