Research Theme

Current research activities
Our research focuses on the adaptation mechanisms of horticultural crops to environmental stress. I particularly focus on perennial horticultural crops that overwinter in Hokkaido and those that can withstand temporary excessive humidity conditions. I conduct cultivation trials in fields and pots, as well as research using physiological and morphological approaches. I am also interested in environmentally friendly food production systems (such as natural farming or aquaponics), and long-term preservation of tissue cultures (such as cryopreservation and so on).
