The Laboratory of Ecological Sensing & Processing is conducting research on solutions to the urgent problems of the collapse of the global food supply-demand balance and labor shortage in the agricultural field by combining real-time hyperspectral cameras with AI technology using  advanced semiconductors.

Specifically, the research aims to establish high-precision agricultural sensing technology, develop intelligent agricultural robot systems, and automate quality inspection and sorting operations in the food industry.

This research will contribute to the promotion of “clean agriculture” in Hokkaido, promote technological innovation among agricultural machinery manufacturers in Hokkaido, and further expand into international markets.

It is a new research laboratory established in 2025 that utilizes industry-academia collaboration. It features research that actively incorporates the latest cameras, advanced semiconductor and AI technologies, and aims to accelerate the social implementation of the technology with the cooperation of local governments and companies in Hokkaido.
