Sustainability represents a comprehensive methodology across fields such as agriculture, food production, and health. It aims to enhance the management of global food resources, ensuring they are utilized effectively for both present and future generations. The sustainable production of foods that are devoid of pesticides, enriched with essential nutrients, and possess potential health benefits for managing lifestyle-related disorders is important in the present context.

Sustainable agriculture and food systems play a crucial role in the attainment of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a particular emphasis on SDG: End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture. The foods that have potential health benefits are named as functional foods. Functional ingredients, including omega-3 fatty acids and probiotics, are prevalent in sources such as fish oils and yogurt. These compounds have been associated with a reduced risk of cardiovascular disease and improved quality of intestinal microflora.

The symposium aims to address the sustainable approaches used in plant function regulations and the intervention of functional foods in managing lifestyle diseases for the future society. The goal is to bring interdisciplinary researchers from plant engineering, food production, nutritionists, product development scientists, food and health researchers together to tackle global food safety and nutrition issues. This event aims to facilitate knowledge exchange, drive innovation, and foster collaborative efforts among stakeholders in agriculture, food science, and health disciplines.
